The Liebster Award (Part 2)

Hello, friends!!

I have been nominated for The Liebster Award by my dear friend Lydia from Lydia’s Lifestyle. Definitely show her some love by checking her blog out! She’s one of the sweetest people I know.  Even though I have already been nominated for this award once before, I decided that it would be fun to answer the few questions that Lydia has asked.

Who are your role models?

In my own life, my mom has always been a magnificent example of kindness, strength, and hard work. In regards to the wider world, Oprah has always carried a message that resonates with me.

What is your favorite food?

Although I’m not usually one for favorites, I think Mac & Cheese has been a solid favorite food of mine for most of my life. Although it’s probably least sophisticated meal in the universe, I think that’s why it appeals to me. It’s not trying to be all fancy, it’s just Mac & Cheese.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I honestly cannot pick a single place that I want to go the most but I remember being fascinated as a kid by Norway after visiting it at Epcot in Disney. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to visit. However, I’d also love to visit New Zealand one day as well.

Do you have any advice for new bloggers?

One of the hardest hurdles to cross as a new blogger is not feeling like you’re shouting into the void. Sometimes, it genuinely feels like your voice doesn’t deserve to be heard, and nobody wants to hear it. Something that has helped me get out of that mindset is not really focusing on the numbers aspect of it all. At the end of the day, people love passion. The internet is inundated with fresh content every day, but how much of it is coming from a place of passion? If you’re passionate, people will naturally want to listen. In essence, your passion will cultivate a community of people who love you, your story, and your voice. Never lose sight of your passion.

What is your biggest goal for 2018?

This year, I hope to really dive into the world of personal development. I want to not only learn about ways to be a more complete version of myself, but actually work on applying those values into my everyday life. I really want to work toward embodying the values of kindness, gratitude, love, and compassion.

What is a song/movie/book that everyone should go check out?

Again, I’m terrible about having favorites BUT the soundtrack for La La Land is absolutely lovely. I’ve listened to both the soundtrack and score multiple times all the way through and cannot recommend them enough, in addition to the film, of course.

Do you have a travel tip/hack that could help others while they travel?

Something that always helps me out when traveling is to have a separate bag or container for everything. Especially when it comes to a carry on, it can be stressful having everything just thrown into a bag with no means of organization. As the queen of overpacking, it helps to have everything in its own little designated space. I also try to do this in my school backpack as well. I’m definitely the weirdo who pulls 3 smaller bags out of my backpack in order to find the bag at the bottom but it keeps me organized, okay.

Where do you consider to be a happy and peaceful place?

Even though I don’t spend nearly enough time outside, I always feel more at peace when I’m in nature. I think it goes back to the fundamentals of our being. I believe that we all feel an intrinsic connection to nature, even though some of us fail to acknowledge it.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Reality TV. And I’m not talking Jersey Shore, Desperate Housewives, or whatever those shows are. I mean the more family friendly reality TV.  I find it interesting to look into the lives of other people and the struggles they face. I think it’s helped me develop more compassion for other people. Even if someone’s story is so vastly different from mine, it allows me to see the individual(s) from a more down to earth point of view. Often, it emphasizes the fact that we’re all more similar than we might believe.

Do you prefer to cook or get takeout?

I can’t deny the beauty of having someone else make your food for you. However, I think there’s a level of pride and satisfaction that goes into making a meal from scratch. Given the time and patience, I actually enjoy cooking. Also, it’s way cheaper which makes me love cooking way more.
What do you do to de-stress?

After a stressful period of life, I usually like to spend some time alone. As an introvert, social interaction alone for long periods of time physically drain me and can cause stress. So, spending time alone allows me to recharge and catch up with myself.
